    Default MU at RAF Cosford

    Hi all,

I would like to ask if anybody can confirm me that in January 1941 when a crew fly to Cosford to pick up a new plane, this plane was prepared for them by No 9 Maintenance Unit (at Conford 15 Mar 1939 - 22 Jun 1956)?

    TIA

    Hi Pavel,

i would say yes. During the month of January 1941 the unit prepared for operational standard the following types:

Ansons, Blenheims, Lysanders, Northrops, Spitfires, Wellingtons and Whitleys.

Does your aircraft fall in these types? The info comes from the ORB for 9 MU which i have so if your crew picked up one of these types from the airfield then it's was certainly on strength of 9 MU.

    Cheers, Tom

    Hi Tom,

    many thanks for your reply.
Yes it was a Wellington bomber, so it fits perfectly.

Just by the way, what kind of info the ORB provides?

Hi Franek, it really varies actually. On the whole thought it tends to state Officers movements and output of aircraft each month. Is there anything in particular you are looking for?

Thanks. No, I am looking for nothing. Just want to know what can I find there if anything needed (ie. if it is worth to look).
