DUNCAN, Andrew Kyle DFC - the Statutory Deaths list on the Scotland's People website states that he died at the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh at 06.15 of 'Multiple Myeloma, Cachexia [weakness and wasting of the body due to severe chronic illness], and Exhaustion.' He was 23.

"Andrew Kyle Duncan DFC: Son of Andrew Kyle Duncan and Annie Duncan, of Glasgow; husband of Agnes Morton Duncan, of Glasgow. Mrs. Annie Duncan, 186 Ashkirk Drive, Mosspark. Husband of Nan Cochrane, 7 Hazelwood Road, Dumbreck. He was a Flight Lieutenant in the R.A.F.V.R. (Service No: 142523). Died in Edinburgh Infirmary, 24th September 1945, aged 23 years. Awarded D.F.C. in 1943. Cited as a skilful pilot who had pressed home attacks on powerfully defended targets in Germany, including a daylight attack on Emden. “His efficiency as captain of aircraft is reflected in the morale and the fighting spirit of his crew", remarks the citation. “Pilot Officer Duncan served in the ranks before being commissioned this year (1943)."

His D.F.C. was gazetted on September 14th 1943 (there's no citation in the London Gazette), where his rank is listed as Pilot Officer and his unit at the time is given as 466 (R.A.A.F.) Squadron.

As Air Bomber, this N.C.O. has completed an operational tour which has included a large number of difficult Ruhr targets and a daylight attack on Emden. he has at all times ably assisted his pilot to carry out efficient attacks and has been outstanding as member of an operational aircrew.

Flight Sergeant Roe is a very fine Air Bomber and a most valuable member of his crew. his Skill and courage are of a high order and throughout his operational tour he has done everything in his power to deliver his bombs to the heart of the enemy's most formidable targets. His splendid record fully merits an award of the Distinguished Flying Medal.

BURT, Edward George - LAC - 1324314 - RAFVR - Copenhagen (Bispebjerg ) Cemetery, Denmark.

On 19th September 1945 a RAF truck with 12 RAF soldiers was hit by a train, and thrown into a ditch, near the Danish village Sødinge.

LAC Edward George Burt became the third victim of the car accident mentioned above.
