His death was reported in the Sevenoaks Chronicle of September 26th 1941. It has the following information:

"He originally held a commission in the Reserve of Air Force Officer, to which he was appointed in March, 1930, but in September 1932 he received a commission in the R.A.F. as pilot-officer, with seniority ante-dated to September 19, 1931. After training he joined fighter squadron in August 1933. Later he was with a station flight and with a squadron in the Auxiliary Air Force. In December 1938, he was promoted Squadron Leader, and shortly afterwards was appointed to the Directorate of Operational Requirements at the Air Ministry. Wing Commander Fletcher was a former lawn tennis champion of the R.A.F. and had represented the Service at lawn tennis and squash rackets on several occasions."

    Hope this is useful.

    Regards

    Simon
