    Default 1 OTU Logbook Entries

    Can anyone add to the following logbook entries for a 1 OTU staff pilot:

    July 11, 1942: Air C. [sic] rescue A/C Marin saved from Battle L5717 Pilot drowned in Solway Firth.

    July 23, 1942: Splash. Hurricane dived into sea of Maryport

    August 20, 1942: Search. Two Hudsons of B1 course collided. In sea off Skimburness.

    July 11, 1942 - Fairey Battle L5717 - Engine cut, ditched in Solway Firth 3m E of Southerness Point, Dumfries.

    Hello,

    August 20, 1942 - Search. Two Hudsons of B1 course collided.

    20-8-1942
    No1(C)OTU
    Hudson AE646

    Collided with Hudson T9273 during practice formation flying, and crashed into the sea 2.5 miles north west of Grune Point, Solway Firth, Cumberland.

    1375245 Sgt (Nav.) Alfred John Philip HOWE RAFVR +
    1020799 Sgt (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Leslie HARGRAVE RAFVR +
    1122742 Sgt (W.Op./Air Gnr.) John BROWN RAFVR +

    Sgt Brown's body recovered and buried in Congleton (St. Peter) Churchyard, Cheshire. The other three crew are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
