Default G/C Peter Douglas Thompson RAF - 84697

    Hello again,
Could anyone please tell me where this airman who served on 32, 605, 261, 185 and 129 sqns came from. He retired from the service as a G/C, DFC
His DOB was 7-9-20, I think he came from SE England.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Roy

    Roy,

With a name as common as that you'd think there would be dozens born throughout the UK. Nope, just one.

Peter D. Thompson, mother's maiden name Clark, born W. Ham.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Hi Tom,
You are never to late with research. I have F/L PD Thompson being tour expired from 185 sqn at Hal Far, Malta on 17-2-42. Do you have any details after this date please when he was on 601 & 129 sqns, after the war led 81 sqn.
    With thanks,
    Roy

Could you please do some research about his brother, George Cyril Thompson, my father, who was one of those unlucky enough to be selected to liberate and clean out Belsen Concentration Camp? There is nothing on the Internet to commemorate him. I have photos of that camp but no information about what he did there or how he got selected. I also have pictures of my Uncle Peter with Winston Churchill and in later life when he visited me in Toronto in 1997. He was the youngest of 5 siblings, 3 other brothers including my father and a sister. After the war he was stationed in the Middle East and became King Hussein of Jordan's personal pilot for a while. He was also stationed in America where he would meet all the early astronauts of the Mercury/Gemini program like Glenn, Carpenter, Chuck Yeager etc. Any other information about him and my father would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely, Steve Thompson
