Default Flying Officer John William Richard Weekes, CANADA, J38027

    Hello,
I'm looking for information about the fate of F/O Weekes, 417 RCAF Squadron, service number J38027, who was posted missing on 16 March 1945, when his Spitfire was last seen at the start of the bomb dive during a rail cut mission in Northern Italy.
I found the full name in this forum, thread Full names and/or service number for 417 Squadron pilots
    Thanks.

    Hi,

Still looking for further details but he did survive the war. According to the Canada Gazette, he was transferred from the RCAF Reserve, General Section, Class E to the RCAF Reserve, General Section, Class A on June 17, 1947.

    Regards,

    Fox.

    Hello Fox,
this is at least a good news!
In R.C.A.F. Overseas, volume #3, page 498, the failure to return is mentioned, without further notes.
    Many thanks!
