    Default POW Hospital (Frankfurt)

I have a couple of references to a POW hospital in Frankfurt (which I am trying to decipher) and wondered if anyone could advise on the name which looks like "HOSHMARK".
    or "HACHMARK"

Any guidance would be much appreciated

    Regards

    Pete

    Hello Pete,
There is an area of Frankfurt called Höchst. Could it be Frankfurt Höchst Markt (market)? Or Höchster Markt, a street in Frankfurt am Main West?

Thanks Bruce; it may be a possibility.

In some of the other locations in the documents (which are POW Liberation Questionnaires), HOS is shown at the beginning to denote Hospital, but this only left HMARK in one of the entries (which doesn't really make any sense).

All entries are written in capitals, so there is clarity of letters, although there are different "words" written in the various sections of the documents. I also have HALLMARK shown on another Questionnaire.

    Regards

Pete, I wonder if you are going through WO309 files concerning treatment of POWs: if not, there are several files in this series concerning Hammelsgasse Prison, Frankfurt-am-Main, which MAY include details of their medical facilities.

Every little bit of information helps.

I am working on two projects for relatives of airmen who served with No. 35 Squadron and it is co-incidental that they both spent some of their captivity hospitalised in ..... Frankfurt.

I will follow up your suggestions and update the thread if I find the definitive answer.

    Regards

    Dear Pete
You are looking for the Hohemark Lazarette or Hokemark Lazarette that was attached to Dulag Luft. It is still there and is an active hospital. I can send photos if you PM me.
    Best wishes
