Default 203 Squadron WW2 and WO Coombes

I am trying to find out more about the activities of 203 Squadron from 1939 - 1944. My father, WO Arthur Coombes (AV Coombes) flew with them from 1939 - 1946. I have his log book from March 1944, but the previous one was destroyed in an aircraft fire when it crashed on landing.

It is very unlikely that your father flew with a single squadron, in this case 203 Squadron, throughout the war. What you need to do in the first instance is to obtain his service record from the RAF. Details as to how to do this, together with the appropriate forms, can be found at https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-pers...sonnel-records. This will provide the units with which he served from the moment he joined the RAF. Should you need help in deciphering the contents we (RAF Commands) will be only too happy to help.

In the meantime the 203 Squadron Operations Record Books from October 1944, basically a diary, can be found at http://www.rquirk.com/203.html. The Form 541 provides details of the crews and the missions they flew.

I can't find him on AIR 78/36 - or is it me?

Thank you - I have a request in with them, and am waiting.
Thank you for the pointer to the Op Books.
