For at least one IT thicko could you post the guidance about searching the RAF Commands archives using Google and perhaps fix it as a "sticky".

    Thanks very much

    Steve,

One method for 'googling' a forum :

Enter the query in your browser's 'search' box, not in the 'address' bar where you would normally paste an URL to go to a website.

For this forum, use the following format:

site:www.rafcommands.com (followed by a space, then your search text.)

    Some examples:-

    site:www.rafcommands.com bader 28 hits
    site:www.rafcommands.com berlin 349 hits
    site:www.rafcommands.com berlin 100 squadron 44 hits
    site:www.rafcommands.com pembroke dock 43 hits
    site:www.rafcommands.com guernsey 39 hits

Obviously, when searching by this method it is useful to know what keywords may have been present in the original post.

This method will also find authors of posts:

    site:www.rafcommands.com welting 2,120 hits!!

Thanks very much for your reply it is just what I wanted. I do not seem to have much success with the search facility on the old board.
