    Default Aircrew Plaques at the National Arboretum

    I am shortly to guide a group around the National Arboretum at Alrewas - on a path in the RAF wood we will pass 3 plaques and I would like the briefest of details about the following:

    Flt/Sgt J.D. White 224 Sqdn KIA 13/05/1943 - St Eval Liberator lost Bay of Biscay
    Flt/Sgt G.L. Burckett 178 Sqdn KIA 21/03/1944 - Liberator - El Adem Cemetery
    Sgt R.F.L Watson KIA 28/01/1944 lost over the Pacific - Ottawa Memorial

    TIA Chris

    All I can help with Burckett is

    the following are ALL in the same collective Grave on the same date

    Sgt. K. W. Anderson;
    Sgt. F. S Booth;
    Flt Sgt, G. L. Burckett;
    Sgt A. G. Mudd;
    Flt, Sgt. G. W Waller

    So these 5 are part of the same crew

    On the Ottawa Memorial for the same date

    DISHMAN, WILLIAM RONALD Pilot Officer 154274 28/01/1944 27 Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve United Kingdom Panel 3. Column 2. OTTAWA MEMORIAL

    QUIGLEY, EDWARD GERALD Sergeant R/191291 28/01/1944 Unknown Royal Canadian Air Force Canadian Panel 3. Column 5. OTTAWA MEMORIAL

    WATSON, RONALD FREDERICK L'ANSON Sergeant 1604441 28/01/1944 Unknown Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve United Kingdom Panel 3. Column 3. OTTAWA MEMORIAL

    These 3 had to be part of same crew all listed as Missing After Flying Operations CANADA in Globe and Mail, 1944/02/10

    Possible losses in Canada on 28 January 1944 are Hampden P1200 from 32 OTU, and Kittihawks 723 and 1081 which collided on the West Coast on that date. Sorry, no crew names for these.

    By the way, the records I have for P1200 show it reported missing on 28 January, with no date for location of the wreck (if it ever was located). This makes it a good candidate for three crew "missing after flying operations".
