    Default 615 Sqn question 27 June 1941

    'Evening all,
On the afternoon of 27 June 1941 two Hurricanes flown by F/Lt Haywood and P/O Strickland intercepted a Ju88 west of Holyhead and claimed to damage the Ju88 before it disappeared in cloud. Did the Hurricanes suffer any damage from return fire?
    Many thanks,
    Regards,
    Tony K

In case you hadn't seen it, looks like Haywood has a combat report for June 27th 1941 available to download on the National Archives website, reference AIR 50/175/11. It'll cost you the princely sum of 3.45 though:

Many thanks Simon, I do have Haywood's combat report obtained on one of my visits to Kew. He made no reference to damage except to mention return fire. 615 sqn did not often list squadron codes/individual letters which leads me to another question, does anyone know the codes of the Hurricanes involved ?
    Many thanks again.

Haywood flew V7750 KW-T and Strickland flew V7064.
