From Chorley's Bomber Command Losses Vol 7:
Wellington LP760 took off from Kinloss for a cross country flight, which at 12.40, ended in scenes of terrible devastation in the vicinity of Bank Head Farm, Humble, some 8 miles SSW of Haddington in East Lothian. Eye witnesses report the Wellington cruising at 5,000 feet when the overcast sky was lit by a flash, followed by an explosion and debris raining down. (accident investigators concluded that the outer section of the starboard wing sheaared away). It was the units last fatal accident in five years of operational training.
    Crew were:
    F/O A G Matthews
    F/O E Rawlinson
    F/O R E Williams, RCAF
    Sgt V P Dias
    Sgt J D Pulham
    Sgt W Gourlay

    Hope that helps, Tom

The location of Bankhead Farm is near Humbie; the F.1180 a/c accident card says ".. the pilot probably lost control in turbulent cloud due to not being strapped in."
