Hello, I have a copy of a log Book belonging to an Air Gunner flying with P/O Kerr. They took off from Leuchers at 09.10 hours to Coltishal (2.30 hour flight duration) in Beaufort W4676 'C'.
They took off for the strike at 14.25 in the same aircraft. They circled Manston. At 16.05 sighted Enemy convoy consisting of of one warship thought to be Scharnhorst or Gneisennau and 4 destroyers. Torpedo dropped at 80ft at 1000 yds.W/Op and A/G reported during steep turn to starboard after attack, they observed warship listing badly and smoke pouring from bow.'C' replied to intense and accurate flak from destroyers, firing 400 rounds.Landed 17.05 hrs.
Crew; P/O Kerr, Sgt Wilson, SDgt Wallen, Sgt Smith
They flew back to Leuchars the next day at 16.05 hrs (2 hr flight)
Hope that of some help. Cheers, B.

Here's a copy of the page from RAF Leuchars visitors' book that was signed by the pilots on 11 Feb 1942.

Hi, All the individual aircraft codes plus their serials are listed in the squadron ORB. The ORBs can be purchased online at the NA website for about 3.50 for the month. Go for the 'Record of Events'. Failing that if you pm me your e mail address I will forward the ORB.
