Combat 5 November 1944

Hello to all

I am looking for information on the allied units (and the claims) involved in the combat happened around 6PM the 5th November 1943 between the 5./JG 2 and allied fighters in South western Belgium ( most probably Spitfires)

Especially who may have claimed the Oblt Eder Georg (WND) 65151/22 5./JG 2 near Binches (15KM ESE of Mons )

Your heading is "Combat 5 November 1944" and the text is "5th November 1943" which is correct please ?

No apparent claims by the RAF on 5 Nov 1943 in the Mons area, at least I assume you meant 1943 beacuse Eder was with JG2 at that time.

Closest I found is a 386th BG (B-26) mission report of that November day that says: "The RAF fighter pilots reported seeing forty enemy fighter planes in operation during the mission. Twenty enemy planes started toward the bombers but made no contact. The other twenty enemy aircraft appeared in the Cambrai area, then turned north in the direction of Ghent, Belgium. At no time did the escort engage the Germans in aerial combat. Their primary assignment was to stay with the bombers until the enemy pilots would show intentions of attacking."

The 9th AF was in the air in the early afternoon however....

Eder's crash combat related?

Read on a Brazilian (!) website that Eder had to bail out "em virtuda de problemas em seu motor em 5.11.43, na localidade de Mons (França)".

If we forget the geographical error, then it boils down that he had engine problems....

Sorry typo ,it’s 1943 of course

Many thanks Leendert , that fit with my information but I am unable to know which unit who where on escort that day , the reason why Eder bailed out may be a mechanical problem but he was strafed during his descent so he was most probably shot down .
The 9th AF and US units don’t claim any fighter in that area , two other 5./JG 2 A/C where loss in the same area (Callenelle & Saint-Maur)during the same combat , and others more north than the area who is interesting for me

Can you check Eder's crash time again?

8th AF escorts were done by 15.00 hours over the Continent and were more over Holland.

2nd TAF and 9th AF operations were concluded mid-afternoon as well and were all to the Mimoyecques V-1 sites...

6 PM on 5 November (43) means dusky to dark already (depending on weather...), so if Eder was strafed, then perhaps by a Mosquito on an early intruder mission?

Did the other JG2 fighters crash at the same time?

Sorry, more questions than answers, but perhaps something comes up after all.
