    Default Sgt Sidney Charles Draper - 967236 - Died 1/2/41 - 607 Sqd

    Hello all,

    Another of my usual requests, can some kind person provide me with the relevant information concerning Sgt Draper:

    Base;

    Aircraft Flown or Flown In;

    Serial No and Code;

    Possible Crash site.

    Added flown in, as of course, aircraft flown suggests that the person was the pilot, which obviously is not always the case.

    Cheers.

    Steve.

    The Squadron was based at MacMerry at that time. However, Squadron ORB does not mention Draper nor any accident within 5 days of your date. A new, privately published, book by 607 Squadron Association also fails to mention Draper even in the honour role. Lists of 607 Squadron pilots at MacMerry also fail to mention him.

    Best Wishes.
    Robert.

    If this is the same pilot whos aircraft I have done some research on then I have a photograph of him from one of the relatives and I have also talked to the cousin of the man himself who in now very elderly.

    May I ask the nature of your interest in this pilot.

    Hello. I have just joined this forum as I am an amateur researcher into the war memorials of the Vale of Glamorgan. Thank you for the addtional information on Sidney Draper. Scott, if it is possible to obtain a copy of your photograph of him I would gladly send you a copy of my photograph of his headstone in Penarth.

    Thanks!
