Default J Serials Lookup J7907 Gamecock

Can anyone please provide a date for this write off ?

I am away from my books at the moment

The Pilot was Sgt 335914 Lionel Richard Stanford Freestone (later commissioned with 05157) and on my bale-out list for a later incident (September 3, 1929) Armstrong Whitworth Atlas TM J9457 along with Flt. Sergt. Andrew Alexander Forbes

An account of this incident (and a Photo of the wreckage of J7907 Gamecock is also in The Fighting Cocks: 43 (Fighter) Squadron
    By Jimmy Beedle

    Thanks Paul

    J Serials has
"J7907 43 Sqdn. 4.26; 23 Sqn; Crashed after dive on target. 27; Repaired; 32 Sqdn; 23 Sqn 11.30" So no date for incident, but I think the oeder of it ToC 23 Sqn is wrong and incident happened at 43 Sqdn. 4.26

    Paul,
J7907 appears in the "RAF fatalities 1927" thread http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...atalities-1927

Plt Off Richard Griffith Pace (22) killed 20.7.27 Gamecock I J7907, 32 Sqn, Kenley. Crashed during target practice, Holbeach ranges; repaired

So it appears that the "crashed after dive on target "reference could also be the 32 Sqdn incident.

Strange that it was involved in two accidents involving diving on a target, both of which looked as though a write-off was inevitable, only to be rebuilt and survive to 23 Sqdn in 1930.
Also no mention in the ORB for either 43 or 32 Sqdn.

    Sean.

Yes maybe two incidents same aircraft (first incident says repaired) or mis-reporting of serial book definitely says "Photo of the wreckage of J7907 "
