Default A long shot - Adjutant of the AOC-in-C NEAF in 1968

    Hi all,

I am trying to find our who was the Adjutant of the Air Officer Commanding in Chief Near East Air Force, Air Marshal Sir Edward Gordon Jones, KCB, CBE, DSO, DFC in December 1968?
One suggestion is S/Ldr Paul Arengo-Jones but I am unable to find anyone of this name serving in the RAF in the LG.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    TIA

Paul Arengo-Jones was a personal appointment Aide-de-camp to AOCinC but he was a brown job - Captain (Glos.).

Later on (bottom right of page)

AVM R G Knott was SASO

    Excellent Ross, many thanks!
It is my inexperience - I was thinking it might be him but I have finally rejected the idea as I was thinking it was not possible that an army officer might be the ADC to to AOCinC. Now I klnow it was possible:)

BTW how do you know that Knott is the next person on my list I was going to ask for?:)

    Pavel,

The C-in-C Near East Air Force also wore the hat of Commander British Forces in Cyprus - hence the occasional choice of an Army officer as his PSO. Sqn Ldr D.G. BLEACH was his PSO in September 1966.

    Pavel,

I am sure that you have registered this by now, but the posts of Adjutant and ADC are two entirely different things.

    Jonny,
thank you for this comments - I was going to ask for confirmation as I came to the conclusion that I have messed up it due the fact of translation from Czech where we have only one word for both functions.
