    Thanks, Bruce, sounds intriguing. The vast majority of met training for observers (RAFVR (Met)) was conducted at Stonehouse in Gloucestershire, most of those attending having previously benefited from some on-the-job training. Met Air Observers were in the GD Branch and in 1943 received instruction as AGs and Navs at appropriate training units before undertaking airborne met training at Aldergrove. Off-hand the only other specialist met training that comes to mind is that given to those who had been fingered to provide met support for artillery units via the Survey Regiments - but I know little about this.

    Looking forward to seeing the ORB entries in due course.

    Brian, when looking at the Location of Units record I recall seeing a Ground Support Unit (or something like that) at the same base but I wasn't looking for that so didn't retain the name. Again, I will look next week.
