Default F/L Alastair Robert Stewart VR 117130

    Hello again,
Could anyone please help regarding F/L Alastair Robert Stewart who was a Spitfire pilot on 57 OTU, 1435 sqn, 602 sqn.
I am trying to find his DOB and where he was born, also where he lived later.
He transferred from the Army to the RAFVR, 656728 as a NCO and commissioned to 117130, survived the war as F/L with a MID and DFC/
Any help will be most welcome, with thanks,
    Roy

Not a 100% certain answer, but ancestry.co.uk has a family tree for an Alastair Robert Stewart, d.o.b. January 7th 1920. He died in December 2000 in Bodmin, Cornwall.

Despite the distinctly Caledonian name, there's nothing on the Scotland's People website for births, but FreeBMD has only one match - Alastair R Stewart, birth registered Hackney, Jan-Feb-March 1920, mother's maiden name Davies, which matches the ancestry.co.uk family tree.

As I mentioned - a possible match, not 100% certain.

    Regards

    Simon

Hi Simon, you are an ace, many thanks.
I have been after this info for many years.
Best wishes and thank you. I thought he could have Scottish connections, but no. I tried FreeBMD with no success.
