    Default More WWII colour photos

    Hello All:

Another jaw-dropping collection of mostly WWII colour images. Not many I had seen before.

Captions top right, pause button bottom left.

Great phots Robert, thanks for sharing the link.

What's the silver/NM aircraft behind these Bostons with the RAF-style rudder markings?

It's another Boston/DB7 from the French contract, still with French rudder stripes.

On a related note. .. this colour footage from British Movie tone archives looks suspect going by the style of roundel and missing serial on the dak.. any thoughts?

The wide paved runway is totally post-war, and the camo is non-standard. The mix of a US jeep and Canadian Pattern trucks is rare, if not unknown. This was staged, possibly for a movie.

The D/F loop housing above canopy is very non-standard for a C-47, and would agree with Bill W that this is almost certainly shot in recent years for a movie or some such.

The white airfield buildings are a bit of a give-away too. Also, referring to a thread on Britmodeller, the striping of the runway apparently wasn't seen in wartime.

The strange part is that it is from the archives of "Movietone News" and hosted in the Associated Press Archives - one would think this was a genuine news clip.

This clip seems to be part one of the same film series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1EZo-MN43k .. no sound.. doesnt look real.

the last bit is where the dakota arrives and continues in the previous clip..
