Joss,
Thanks a lot! I'm researching an incident that occurred on 30-6-1943, at Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. I believe Wellington X HE532 was involved. Could really be any of the units mentioned. More work required.
Col.

My father, then FO JA Abrahams 18 OTU, flew this aircraft as second pilot on a 1 hour familiarisation flight out of RAF Worksop on 19 October 1944.
His only flying experience in an (ex?) operational bomber.

Hello,
The incident I referred to was, as follows:
30/06/1943
No.311 Ferry Training Unit, Moreton-in-Marsh.

Aircraft detailed for a non-operational day training flight. The Wellington forced-landed in a field near Chipping Norton after both engines cut, due to fuel exhaustion.
AUS296158 P/O (Pilot) Ronald Alec BINT RAAF - Injured - Face, Lacerations and concussion (later F/L, DFC, 150 Sqn. LG: 23/05/1944)
1253508 Sgt (Nav.) Stanley Charles PARISH RAFVR - Uninjured
R76853 Sgt (Bomb Aimer) J K SMITH RCAF - Uninjured
1322196 Sgt (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Douglas Richard COOK RAFVR - Uninjured
1047264 Sgt (Air Gnr.) Dennis GOLDSBROUGH RAFVR - Uninjured.
Pilot taken to War Memorial Hospital, Chipping Norton, remainder of crew to Moreton-in-Marsh.
Wellington obviously repaired and had later service.

Hello Col,
Not noted in BCL vol 8,possibly because the a/c was returned to service , or Chorley overlooked it ?
Alex
Alex,
Please read posts #2 & 5 (ultimate sentence).
The unfortunate 1322196 Sgt (later W/O) Douglas Richard COOK RAFVR, survived the European war only to be killed during Operation "DODGE", when No.626 Sqn Lancaster I RF159, crashed at Carcassonne, near Toulouse in southern France, on 07/08/1945 - see: BCL6/180.
1047264 Sgt (later W/O) Dennis "Goldie" GOLDSBROUGH RAFVR, later emigrated to Australia, arriving aboard the "Castel Felice" at Melbourne (with his wife, Alice) on 02/03/1964. He died there on 06/02/1996, at the age of 72. He rests in Rye Cemetery, Victoria, Australia.
