Default John Melvin Bliss - American in the RAF

Am trying to find out more about the RAF career of the above for his family. He was born in the US on October 13, 1922, and killed in a crash in the UK during WWII. Apparently all but one of the crew members died and the survivor was fitted with prosthetic ears. He then visited the families of all the crew members killed.
    Thanks and regards:

Can't find him on the CWGC - aren't Americans in the RAF usually listed?

    Hi chaps,
as I know from 3 examples - RCAF airmen of American origin are listed on the CWGC but all of them died in Canada during training.

    Default Extra details

Where in the USA was he from, which state, if he was on CWGC where might his next of kin be if their listed, what other details do you have from him, no date of death?

Was he born in Pasadena, CA?

I couldn't seem to find him on the 1930 census but then it was 2am I was looking.

He doesn't seem to be on the US WW2 memorial site either.

There is no matching man on the GRO RAF All ranks list of dead.

Might he be ATA? But then his name ought to show up on a google search at the RAF Lichfield site.

    Dennis:
Will get more details. DOB was October 13, 1922. I have a hunch Pasadena is correct.

Best family recollection is that the accident took place in October/November 1944.

Is it certain that he joined under his real name?
