Default Chinese Air Force Officials with a Wapiti at an RAF Station - Circa 1941

An interesting photo from Flickr shows Chinese Officials with RAF officers at an air force station in India in 1941. Possibly Ambala and the SFTS. I will go out on a limb and say I can see a "25" under the starboard wing of that Wapiti..

The RAF Group Captain be an easy one to identify ? The chinese characters seem to translate into "Chinese general to visit India the British Royal Air Force base"

    Hello Jagan,
This might be of use to narrow it down:

    http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ils/r/C2784885

... plus the British Library has a lot of files concerning the relations with Chinese in CBI theatre. I will look at the NA file (FO 371/27665, Chinese military mission to India. Code 10 file 243 Date:1941) next week.
    Regards,

"Chinese Military Mission" is a great clue Bruce. I have nailed it down.

No.1 Service Flying Training School at Ambala

"31st March 1941 - Unit inspected by the Chinese Military Mission who were afterwards entertained to lunch at the officers mess"

The CO of SFTS at that time was Wg Cdr R C Mead DFC - who must be the gent sitting in the photo. http://www.rafweb.org/Biographies/Mead_RC.htm

    Hi Jagan,

    Could that "25" be "75"?

K1275 with 1 SFTS in time frame, courtesy K File.

    Others maybe possible are K1258, K1261, K1271, K1290, K1300

On further closer look could that be a two under the starboard wing and a 5 under the port ?

Which then might indicate K1258 ????
