Default Official Abbreviation or RAF Slang?

After reading the report of an attack on a U-Boat (in the Squadron ORB) I was confused by the final sentence which was "Set course of 07.35 owing to PLE" Is this an official abbreviation or some kind of RAF slang, any ideas?
