    Default 4 Group Help April 18th 1944

    Hi,

Trying to identify was Halifax squadrons of No.4 Group were used to drop flares to aid a high level mining operation carried out by Short Stirling's of No.3 Group.

    Any pointers welcome.

Steve - I don't have the 4 Group Form B for that op but I do have the Form A. There were 15 H2S equipped Halifaxes from 4 Group sent to mark SWEET PEA 2 along with 34 Stirlings from 3 Group. Maybe someone knows which 4 Group Squadrons were equipped with H2S.
    Cheers

    Hi Steve,

From 4 Group 6 Halifaxes of 10 Squadron, 16 of 77 Sqdn and 18 of 102 Sqdn were detailed for a Gardening Operation in the Daffodil and Forget-me-not areas. Consulting the Squadron ORBs it appears that only 10 Squadron dropped green flares too as target indicators.

    Regards,
    Hans
