    Default F/O Rupert Julian Pulleyn - RAFVR - 181508 - crash 8 June 1946 - Malaysia

A Singapore newspaper of 9 June 1946 reports the crash of a RAF recce plane due to which the pilot F/O James Pullyn and passenger Private B.T Shollick died. This was in Malaysia.

A CWGC search identified the men as F/O Rupert Julian PULLEYN, date of death 8 June 1946, and private T.W. SCHOLLICK of 2nd Bn, West Yorkshire Reg't. Date of death for latter is 12 June 1946, according CWGC.

Newspaper says they were making a joy ride from Sungei Petani aerodrome in N. Malaysia.

I wonder if the aircraft involved is known?

    Thanks for the info,

    Regards,

    Leendert

    Leendert,

    A likely candidate, from J. J. Halley's 'Broken Wings', page 43:

Auster AOP.4 TJ415, crashed near Sungei Patani - elevator control cable snapped; stalled in attempted force-landing, 2 killed.

    Regards

    Simon
