    Hello,

    AUSTRALIA - DUXBURY.

    Open Finding On Death Of R.A.F. Officer.

    An open finding was returned to-day at an inquest into the death of Flight Lieutenant Fred Duxbury, 25, R.A.F., who was stationed at Parafield (South Australia).

    Evidence was given that Duxbury and Flight Lieutenant Robert Currie, R.A.F*., were found injured on the Main North Road, just north of the Pooraka Bridge. shortly after midnight on December 18 (1945). An overturned jeep was nearby.

    Duxbury died in Daws Road Military Hospital on December 22.

    Currie said he had recently been discharged from hospital. He had a fractured skull. He could remember nothing of the accident or of riding in the jeep.

    The Acting City Coroner (Mr, Ziesing) found that Duxbury died as a result of multiple injuries sustained when th jeep in which he was riding with Currie overturned.

    On the evidence before him he could not say what caused the jeep to overturn or who was the driver at the time of the accident.

    See: News. Friday, 8 February, 1946. page 3.

    * Possibly, 49683 F/L Robert CURRIE RAFVR.

    An earlier report stated that; F/L Duxbury had sustained a fractured pelvis, abdominal injuries and a fractured jaw and was in a serious condition. F/L Currie received concussion and lacerations, his condition was satisfactory. It is believed, that both Duxbury, and Currie, were members of No.238 Sqn RAF (Dakotas).
