Default Fairey Battle speed in dive

    Hi,

I have check several books where maximal or crusing speed of Fairey Battle is mentioned but I would like to ask if there is known maximal speed in dive? At least there should be some restriction due to structural limits?

I went over a note of an Air Gunner who stated they have dived in Battle at speed around 550 km/h, i.e. 341 mph.

    Was it possible?

    TIA

    Hello Pavel

    According to the Pilots Notes,
'The speed of the aeroplane must not exceed 340mph A.S.I. under any conditions of flight.'

    Hope this helps,
