Default Air raid on RAF Yatesbury September 1940

    Hi all,

from a diary of Czech WOp u/t at No. 2 SS at the time:

"21. 9. During the last raid 5 days ago there were 9 casulaties and two bombs not explode yet."

So my question is - was there any enemy air raid around 16. 9. 1940 on RAF Yatesbury?
I have already checked both ORB of RAF Station Yatesbury and No. 2 SS and there is nothing mentioned what seems to me quite strange as ususally such a events were recorded.

I will be thankful for any additional information confirming/disconfirming the diary entry.

    TIA

Rod Priddle makes no record of this in his Wings Over Wiltshire, and he is usually pretty good at recording such incidents. In fact he only describes a single attack on the airfield, at 0300 hours on 29 July 1940, when 13 H.E. bombs were dropped. I suppose there may have been others, but if there were I'm surprised he never mentions them.

My father was at Yatesbury from June to December of 1940, making his first flight on September 19th in Dominie R 5930. He never made mention of an air raid during that time, but then again he never mentioned a that lot he went through.
Researching my father's time with 50 Squadron, 97 Squadron, Dulug Luft, Stalag Luft VI, Stalag 357 and Stalag Luft III.
