    Default PL427 Spitfire LF.IX 345 Squadron 19/11/1944

    Hi !

Adj René Porchon lost his life in this Spitfire. It is quoted as crashed near Deurne - Belgium (due to flak) or near Dunkirk - France (after a mid-air collision with Spitfire PT855).

    What is correct ?

    Many thanks and best regards

    Hi Luc
Franks Fighter Command Losses has this as a collision nr. Dunkirk when one a/c was hit by flak and flew into the other. He is not sure which was which but places Porchon in PL427 and Sgt D E Toussaint in PL855. One pilot baled and was killed and the other was killed in a forced landing. From Bertrand's info it seems the latter could well have been Porchon. Franks states that Toussaint used the alias Marchal which may help with other sources.

    Default René Porchon (PL427)

    Bertrand,
Porchon not listed by Henri Lafont. What was his matricule and do you know his first/permanent burial location ?
    Regards,
    Henk.
