During my research into the Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment I have found reference to skip bomb trials on Loch Lomond. These were separate to the Highball and B-Bomb (buoyancy bomb) trials.I know no more other than the marine section of MAEE at Helensburgh supplied a Brooke Marine sea plane tender for the skipping trials. I presume a Mosquito from Prestwick was used, or possibly a Catalina from Helensburgh. Do any members of the forum know more on the skip bomb tactics employed by the RAF or Coastal Command. The Americans skipped bombs in the Pacific with success. Info on Brooke Marine tenders also appreciated. The ones with MAEE were 384 and 314 and there was Vosper 368. This information is based on an inventory of the MAEE marine section that I have just acquired.
