    Hello Pavel

This probably won’t be of much help, however about two years ago I was at the National Archives, Kew. I had a look at 13 OTU’s ORB, file AIR 29/650. My uncle attended 13 OTU, Nr 3 Mosquito course. On April 25th 1944 F/Sgt. Kotarba and Sgt. Brzostowski were both killed in the crash of Mosquito HJ942. Both men were part of my uncles course. The ORB was rather detailed concerning this crash. The ORB also mentions several other “fender bender” type incidents. I only took a photo of the page with the April 25th crash, but I would guess that what your looking for will be in the ORB.

Also, this is just a wild shot, but you may try F/LT Tracy (Pilot)and P/O Newell (Nav). They both started 13 OTU, but I do not know if they finished it.

    Hope this helps some,
    Mieszko

    Hello Pavel,

If your still interested in the above, I was at KEW the other day. 13 OTU’s ORB for 1944 is AIR 29/649. Sorry for the mistake. AIR 29/650 is also 13 OTU consisting of Course completion lists, transfers, etc.

The ORB for April, 1944 lists the following concerning Mosquito LR297:

Training Wing 11th Accident to Mosquito LR.297 at Bicester.
    42913 F/Lt. Tracey – Pupil pilot – Injured
    124516 F/O. Newell – Pupil Nav. - “
The pilot was making an approach to the airfield and stalled on final turn on to the runway He apparently left it too late and finally made too steep a turn, during which the aircraft stalled and crashed on the edge of the airfield. The pilot and navigator were both admitted to hospital.

    Summary of events:

Bicester, ¼ mile N.E. Airfield. 11.4.44 Mosquito W.297 crashed ¼ mile N.E. Bicester Airfield at 17.58hrs on 11.4.44. Cause unknown.
42913 F/Lt. Tracy (Pilot) – Lacerations forehead, upper lip and behind right ear.
    124516 F/O. Newell, (Navigator) – Multiple Injuries.
Both transferred to Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford on 11.4.44.

I believe both men survived the accident. Both are mentioned in the London Gazette; “D. Nevell (124516)” in 1956, and “D. Q. W. Tracy (42913)” in 1945, ‘47, and ‘52
From an old rafcommands thread D. Q. W. Tracy served inn 263 Squadron, http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...quadron-Roster

    Hope this was helpful,
    Mieszko
