    Hi Andreas:

Believe it's there now... at least it was but now I don't see it!

    Hi Rob

It should be up now, came through overnight as moderation approval and I pressed the button a few minutes ago.

Would you be okay for me to integrate the information in the main article, with full attribution and a link to your book?

    All the best

    Andreas

By all means, Andreas. There’s one more note I’ll send via your blog later today.

I see a new post does appear in the blog immediately after submitting but is not accessible again until it's been approved.

    Hi Rob

Your comments are now no longer in need of approval. It's only the first one.

With the invaluable help of Forum members I’ve been able to identify the full names and service numbers for 90 of the 100 Allied airmen involved in ferrying the 20 Boeing B-17C/Fortress Is to the UK between April and June 1941.

Of the remaining ten, DHH were able to forward assignment cards for four as follows - the cards only provided initials but immigration documents helped flesh out forenames for the first three:

ARKWRIGHT, Sgt Kenneth George: Flight engineer. Not listed in AIR 78.

MOTTERSHEAD, Sgt Stephen: Flight engineer. Service number possibly 104462 per AIR 78.

EDWARDS, Sgt Patrick: Radio operator. Possibly 1120443 or, believed more likely, 1360150

PRICE, Sgt N G, RCAF: Navigator.

The remaining six, for which DHH has no cards, are, in ascending order of difficulty:

PROCTOR, Plt Off J R: Navigator. Not in London Gazette as far as I can see.

PENDERSON, Flg Off: 2nd Plt. No ‘Penderson’ that I can find in the London Gazette.

    CLARK, Plt Off: Radio operator.

    McBRIDE (rank unknown): Navigator.

    DAGG, Sgt*: Flight engineer.

    WATSON, Sgt: Role unknown.

Appreciate that the information for most of these is very thin. Some would likely have previously served with Coastal Command.

If anyone can throw more light on any of these individuals in terms of forenames, service number and previous unit, I’d be very grateful.

Have searched this and the CWGC sites for those above for which there are at least initials.

*Flt Off Ainsley George Dagg serving with ATFERO was a candidate but he proved to be a 2nd pilot and otherwise-occupied during the period of the relevant ferry flight.

    Thanks in advance:

    Robert

Now confirmed that Neil Gladstone PRICE, RCAF, was navigator on one of the B-17Cs delivered to the UK.

Can anyone please help with his service number?

    Thanks in advance.

    Robert
