    Default Sgt George Williams

    Hi Guys,

My wife and I have been renovating an old building and under the floorboards we found a letter from the above Sgt to his girlfriend (I assume), his Service number is 1085703 (I think that is the service number, unless it corresponds to something else...), I've been googling around and can't find any info on this guy. I've never searched for anyone before so I'm not really sure where to look or whether it's a bit pot luck, I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything or can shed some light on whether this guy made it through the war and whether it's possible to return the letter to family etc.

    Thanks

    Ian

Hello Ian and welcome to the forum. Is there a date in the letter, a hint on what job Sgt Williams was in or perhaps any mention of placenames?

    Regards,
    Bruce

Hi Bruce, thank you for the welcome and for the reply.

Having a look at it again, it's dated Sept 14th 1944.

    It says 71 Staging post - (I think it's a 1 not an L)
