    Default AC1 Robert William Harder (1239732) - killed 11th June 1942

Can anyone confirm the circumstances in which the above was killed in Durban on 11th June 1942. He was with 607 Squadron and died when the Squadron was en-route to India from the UK. They had stopped off in South Africa on the way.

    Hello,

AC1 Harper is listed in Flight. October 29, 1942, p.486 (Cas.Comm.No.168), as Died On Active Service (as distinct from "Killed On Active Service"), with all that that implies.

    Thanks Col,

That sort of fits with him dying due to an accident or illness as 607 were without their aircraft in Durban.

It would still be interesting to know the circumstances. A letter to the AHB might be required for them to peep into his service file.
