V1 Storage site / Nucourt

Does anyone know if the V1 Storage site that the Germans had at Nucourt France was ever excavated after the war? Apparently hundreds of flying bombs were buried when the roof of the limestone caves was caved in during the Bomber Campaign in July of '44. Are the V1's still entombed there....?

This does not answer your question, Clint, but have you seen the comprehensive collection of approximately 56 photographs at http://grotteur95.skyrock.com/4.html. None of them appears to include a sign warning of unexploded ordinance, so I suspect they may well have been removed. Or were you referring to the fuselages rather than the explosive?

Thanks Brian, I had not seen this site..fascinating! It does look like the site has been excavated and the bombs removed at some point. I will try to send a message to the owner of the blog, see if they can provide any details. Thanks again for the info, Clint.
