    Default Three more RCAF officers

    Morning All,

First of all thanks again for those who provided the missing data for the previous list. That was of great help.
I would have three more RCAF officers for whom I'm looking for their first names, all have served with 214 Sqn in 1945:

    D.W. HALL (J39349)
    J.W. CARTER (J37715)
    S. HOSSNER (J45404)

    Thanks in anticipation

    Phil

    Hi Phil

I have no specific answers for you at the moment, but could I just ask the reason for your interest in these RCAF and RNZAF aircrew from 214 Sqn?

Just wondering as I've been researching 214 for many years now and have put together from the ORB's a complete listing of all their aircrew and the ops they flew on from mid-'43 to the end of the war.

    Regards

    Ian

Edit - By the way your "S Hossner" was in fact Steve Nessner, one of 214's Spec Ops

    Hi Ian,

I'm completing a study on the Fortress II and III in the RAF and RCAF in my SQUADRONS! series and of course the 214 is totally concerned. I've got some guys I still have to identify with first names and service number and involved in aircraft losses, so any help regarding the following men would be very appreciated and maybe to save me time as well as I imagine I would be able to trace some of them after a long investigation:

    SR381:
    Sgt K.W. Bailey
    F/Sgt S. Mather
    Sgt AE Lester

    HB763:
F/Sgt AC Smith (PoW but there are two F/Sgt Smith in PoW lists!)

    HB767
    Sgt R Cooper

    HB800
    Sgt AW Ramsey

    KJ103
    F/O N.T. Scott
    Sgt D.V. LEwis
    F/Sgt R. Smith
    Sgt B.J. Lunn
    Sgt RNJ Willing
    Sgt C. Brown

    HB815
    Sgt A. McDirmid

    HB802
    Sgt L.C. Pound
    Sgt R. Gamble
    Sgt B. Burgess
    F/Sgt A.D. MacIntosh

    HB803
    F/O P.J. Anderson
    F/O F.T.A. Burnett
    P/O J.A. Morton
    F/Sgt H.T. Hamrsworth
    W/O J. Hunter
    F/Sgt G. Mercer
    W/O L.T. Wheeler

    KJ125
    F/L K. Crosbie
    F/Sgt H.I. Collings
    Sgt S.G. Edwards
    F/Sgt D.E. Astbury
    Sgt A.E. Mercer
    Sgt H.J. Heath
    Sgt T. Sullivan
and the 3 Canadians who opened this thread.

Any help regarding those men would be very appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Phil

    Hi Phil

Happy to help where I can. I'm at work so don't have access to my records at the moment, but have added a few names below from memory, which I believe to be correct.

Have you looked on the 214 Sqn website? I think you'll probably find a number of these men named there.

    Regards

    Ian

On HB767 : Sgt Raymond Cooper. He came back in Calais in November 1990 to see again the place he had known when his Fortress was lost off the town.
