Default Aircraft Losses in SEAC (India, Ceylon, Burma) - 1st Update - Harvards and Hurricanes

I have started a new section on the website - these are Harvard and Hurricane Losses in the SEAC - in erstwhile India, Ceylon and Burma

As of now about 1200 Hurricane accident and incidents are available and about 120 Harvard accidents. The intention is to identify all the pilots associated with these losses.

    http://www.rafcommands.com/database/losses/

    Harvard Losses : http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...qacid=10&qt=TY 120+ records
    Hurricane Losses : http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...qacid=12&qt=TY 1100+ records

The data comes from a vareity of sources - with thanks in no small measures to the Colin Cummings series - and the J J Halley books (RAF Serials and Aircraft Registries). Thanks also to various forum members who shared ORBs of SEAC Units to help populate more detail on these losses

I know that the aircraft 'Marks' may be incomplete or incorrect. but feel free to post any corrections or additions on this thread

    Jagan,

No listing on your DB for this airman:

4-8-1944 2371 F/O Sundaram Jayaram No.9 Sqdn.IAF. Hurricane LD956 (needs checking) - Last reported position, between Akyab and Chittagong. My source states that his last contact with Cox's Bazar was on 2-8-1944!

NB. I haven't got the later A-B serial volumes, you will need to check. All serials need verification.

Well caught. the DoD is 5-12-1944 as per Form 541. Failed to return from a sortie down the Kaladan Valley. Intell reports crashed at Minthagaung.. sortie details says TINMA-THAYETTABIN. Sortie reached LETPAN PN1148. Last seen 1000 ft over LETPAN

Now have to find out where LETPAN is

Thanks also for catching the missing entries, I updated them checking the ORBs. the Indian Entries still need more detail, they are a leftover from my old database.

tment, in a letter to the Red Cross, SIMLA.

"On the 15th May, 1945, F/O. D. M. ENGINEER took off in Hurricane K.E.662 to
On a secondary scan, the ORB Form 541 gives the aircraft number as PJ662.. sounds about right!

Also, Minor Update to the index page - http://www.rafcommands.com/database/losses/ to make the querying of units a bit easier..!

    Jagan,

Can't locate this loss on your DB.

21-4-1944 47317 F/L James GILLIES DFM RAF - RAF Component Special Force - Only have a corrupt Hurricane serial for this one - HB5462 ! - Forced landed enemy territory. Aircraft seen partially destroyed by fire - Inner Burma.

I have James Gillies in HV546.

Are you sure about LB549 for Trevor Carr? It flew with 11 Squadron from May till July 1944.
