Not a lot of info but the following obtained from search of London Gazette :

His original (Non-Commissioned) service number was 178832 which I believe indicates deferred service from 1941. He was granted a commission as a Pilot Officer (On Probation) on 25/2/44 (London Gazette 2/5/44) having held the rank of LAC, and this was confirmed along with promotion to Flying Officer on 25/8/44 (LG 8/9/44). He was promoted to Flight Lieutenant on 25/2/46 (LG 22/3/46) and subsequently awarded a commission as F/Lt in the reconstituted RAFVR on 30/8/48

Hope this may be of some help. J

Many thanks John, all is of course appreciated and thank you for taking the time to look this up for me.
I think that a genealogical search is in order.
