    Default Navigation Log Abbreviations

The navigation abbreviation 'T.M.G.' stands for Track Made Good.

A similar one on a navigation log I have reads 'A/C M.G.T.' Am thinking this means Altered Course [to] Make Good Track.

    Can anyone confirm?

    TIA

    Robert

Robert, A/C is Altered Course. Cannot find M.G.T., but I wonder if it is a "misspelling" under pressure? After all, once the course was altered there would still be a Track Made Good. Regards, Terry

    Thanks for the input, Terry.

The usage appears to be different with TMG always following a statement of drift while MGT always follows A/C.

So am sure they are related but perhaps have slightly different usage.

    Cheers:

Robert, I have the Air Navigation Manuals Vol 1 for 1941 and 1944 and cannot find an explanation of the MGT abbreviation. What sort of flight was it? Regards, Terry

    Terry,
It was an anti-submarine patrol. If you would like to see the document, you could email me via my user name 'robstitt' and I'll send a copy by return.
    Cheers,
    Robert
