    Default Sgt. W. Porter / 420 Squadron /1944

I am hoping someone in the U.K. might be able to help me track down the family of an Englishman who served with my Dad and his crew. Sgt. W. Porter ( Wilfred, I believe) flew with the Coffey crew as a Flight Engineer. All the other members of the crew were Canadian and RCAF. They flew Halifax's out of Tholthorpe , Yorkshire starting in February of 1944. Porter left the crew after eight operations or so. Dad and his crew went to Pathfinders, Sgt. Porter remained at Tholthorpe, flying with the Sefton crew, and was wounded on November 22 when the Halifax crashed on returning from ops. That's all the info I have, but I am hoping to connect with his family to share some photos, documents etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Cheers, Clint.

In hopes my original post might get another look, I will add that I have confirmed that Sgt. Porter's first name was Wilfred, and I have found his R.A.F. service number : 1076349
Any help finding any info at all about what happened to Sgt. Porter or anything about him would be much appreciated.
    Thanks, Clint

Hi Clint, I am afraid you have still too little info to find out more.
We can only summarize what I suppose you already know:
CWGC site returns no hit to his service number so we can suppose he survived the war.
His service number returns no hit in the LG so he finished the war as the NCO.
Ancestry returns quite a lot of hits for Wilfred Porter so it is impossible to identify "your man" without knowledge where he lived after WWII, whom he married. etc.

Hi Pavel, thank you so much! Actually the info you have given is more than I knew ( he must have survived the war, as an NCO, not an officer) so everything helps! Hopefully a grandson or great-grand niece will see my post and reply. It would be great to connect with the family.
Have a great, healthy Christmas and New Year,
    Clint
