Default George Brown fallen in France in 1940 (evader or escaper ?)

    Hello,

Eugene Hegedos was a chief of Resistance Group in the North of France.
After war, he had written 308 files about airmen helped by "Bordeaux-Loupiac".

One file is enigmatic, I dont' find the escape report and good informations about a pilot

    Informations on the file :
    - BROWN George, english pilot (No Squadron)
    - Address : 72 Greenvale Road ELTHAM, S.E.Q England
    - Fallen near Boulogne sur Mer in 1940 (perhaps an error of area ?)
    - Helped By Mrs Gellez who lived at FIVES-LILLE (december 1940 to february 1941)
    - Helped by Melle Lina OGDEN who lived at HELLEMMES LEZ LILLE. Melle OGDEN Convoyed the pilot from Lille to Marseille (By Paris)

    Who can help me ?

    Best wishes

    Jean Michel (near Lille)

    Hi,

Whitley P5026 made a belly landing in Juist Island on a beach on the island in the north of Holland. Too far from Boulogne sur Mer.

    George Brown will be OK.

I did say "possibly" but since then, F/O G.A. Brown 66sqdn Spitfire N3027 (Clutton Brock) has also come to light. Shot down 13/5/40, Belgium.

In February 1941, he was not prisoner. Mlle Lina Ogden had not address on the French Helpers List of NARA and I founded into the file of Eugene Hegedos. Perhaps, I don't know, they were arrested during the evasion trip.

For F/O G.A Brown 66 Sqdn who has the number of his escape report ?

For information, you can find the entire list of Airmen or soldiers helped by "Bordeaux-Loupiac" Resistant organisation. (# = american)

    Hi,

Spitfire N3027, 66 Sqn, Knocke, Belgium. A tyre puncture by a bullet. Spit ended upside down.
F/O George Alfred Brown (39851) was taking back to UK by HMS Codrington and posted to 253 Sqn on 26 May 1940. G/C 1 July 1953.

„George Brown“ – „an airman as was assumed at the time“:

    http://www.conscript-heroes.com/Art14-Six-Days-960.html

The route in the file is same: Lille – Marseille…

But! In the London Gazette there is an exact address of G. Brown’s house. Could Brown/Stachura stay there after the war? The file was written after that…(?)

    Hello

Roland Lepers who acted as a guide for the group of evaders which included Henryk Stachura aka George Brown later became a Mitchell pilot with No. 342 "Lorraine" Squadron, in 1945.
