Default FAA, Sub Lieutenant (A) - is 'A' short for Air

I have been asked, what 'A' in Sub Lieutenant (A) in Fleet Air Arm stands for. One might guess Air or Aviator, but it could also just be 'A'.

    Does anyone know?

    TIA

    Mikkel.

    (A) = Air Branch (of the Royal Navy or Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve).

I believe the RN actually use Aviation Branch as the official title.
