    Default K J Ayres and PB 347

On September 19th 1944 Lancaster PB 347 was allegedly shot down by Fritz Lau and crashed at Elmpt killing all the crew with the exception of the bomb aimer K J Ayres who was captured four days later in Southern Holland and was then sent to Stalag Luft 1. I was wondering if anyone had come across K J Ayres in their research and knows how he managed to escape the crash. Any help will be greatly appreciated..

I don't know, but my uncle was a casualty - Anthony Brindley. Would be interested in learning more also.

The Wireless Operator was an Australian, WHEELER, Lindsay William - (Warrant Officer); Service Number - 409807 but his file hasn't been digitised yet on the NAA site.
There may have been some additional information there on Flying Officer Ayres survival.

    Cheers,
    Wayne.
