Hi all,
On the evening of July 27th 1944, a small group of Short Stirling's from No.149 and 218 Squadron carried out a GH attack on the V1 site at Landes Vieillies etc Neuves (Z.3285).
I am trying to establish who provided the escort on this raid, RAF or USAF.
Any help or pointers welcome.
Regards

Hi Steve
It is not mentioned in 2TAF by Shores & Thomas, so the escort would seem to have been from the UK only - note the USAF was only formed on 18 September 1947, so it would have been an 8th or IXth Air Force USAAF unit if the Americans were involved, most probably 8th as the IXth Fighter Groups would most likely have all been in France by 27th July.
cheers
