    Default John Reid's D.F.M. (NCO number 967458 / Officer number 128102)

    Hello

Can a guru of the London Gazette, or else, might clear up a detail ?

I'm actually checking the pilots who flew with a No. 102 Squadron crew lost in my area in April 1941. I found that in that period, crews were often mixed, not sticking together like we often find in other units.

Sgt John REID was one of these pilots. His service number 967458 is found in the Squadron O.R.B., confirmed by the London Gazette when he was appointed to a commission in 1942 : https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/.../3906/data.pdf

http://www.yorkshire-aircraft.co.uk/...k41/z6746.html has a nice entry on him, and explains he got the D.F.M., which is also mentioned in his C.W.G.C. entry.

I'm trying to find the London Gazette page for this D.F.M., and just fail to do so.

MATON's "honour the Air Forces" shows F/Sgt John REID 1520540, of No. 7 Squadron, receiving the D.F.M. as per LG of 14/11/1944.
    https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/.../5208/data.pdf

So, can somebody confirm the D.F.M. to REID 967458 /128102 ?

    Thanks in advance

    Joss

    Hi Joss,

Looks like an error, also his headstone does not show the D.F.M although his CWGC details do :-

    Hi Joss,
DFM is not in Flight or in the headstone:

    Hello

Thanks Mojmir. I think there was a confusion between the two John Reid, and that "mine" didn't receive a D.F.M., altough it might have been wrongly recorded as such a while back, and their entry has not been amended.
