    Default Peden's crew - Fortress SR381 - 214 Sqn

    Good Morning,

I'm trying to get the full identification of two crew members, part of Peden's crew:
F/Sgt S. Mather (in Peden's book known as Sam)
Sgt K.W. Bailey (known as Bill)
Does anyone know their service number or their first names?
    Thanks

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

A Thousand Shall Fall by Murray Peden: Bill Bailey, the flight engineer, was a Londoner, close to my own age.

„Murray Peden is a Canadian who joins the RCAF the day after his 18th birthday in October 1941.“ (Born 1923)

AIR 78: the name Kenneth William Bailey five times:

    965000 to 1149977 Sep 1939 Padgate 975126, 1143695

    1330001 to 1340000 Nov 1940 Uxbridge and Weston-super-Mare 1330826

    1650001 to 1670000 Nov 1941 Penarth 1664362

    1860001 to 1869700 Oct 1942 Cardington 1860148

    What is near London?

    Regards
    Mojmir

    Well I would vote for:

    1330001 to 1340000 Nov 1940 Uxbridge and Weston-super-Mare 1330826

    particulalry for Uxbridge.

    There's a Kenneth William Bailey b. 2 Feb 1922 (he would be 18 on 2 Feb 1940!), d. Q1 1984 (Reg Congleton 284 35 367).
1330826 (1330001- 1340000) is very early in that Block, so Enlistment in early Nov 40?
    Might be him?
