Default Identity of crashed Hawker Hart

Looking for the identity of another Middle East subject, a seriously bent Hawker Hart or variant, snapped at Shallufa, Egypt on February 24, 1942. Judging by the oil spill below the engine, it had happened recently. Aircraft is camouflaged but no discernible markings.

    Thanks in advance:

    Robert

    Thanks, Alex.

Alex Crawford suggests it's a Hart trainer with windshield visible forward of the rear cockpit and an extended exhaust to hide the glare during night flying.

    Cheers,

extended exhausts would actually mean they were an Audax - right?

    Jagan:

Different in this case. Not the long fuselage-side installation of the Audax but a downward vertical leg off the rear end of the exhaust manifold followed by a rearwards turn with a short stub canted outwards under the wing leading edge.
