Motor Cyclist Hits Telegraph Pole
A young R.A.F. man who had recently returned from three and a half years' captivity in Japanese hands, was killed at Stretton-under-Fosse while motor-cycling on Tuesday afternoon.
The man was L.A.C. Frederick John Lovett (24), R.A.F., Newbold Revel, whose home was at South Elmham, Harleston, Norfolk.

85890 LAC Norman Charles SMEATH RAAF.
85890 LAC (General Hand) Norman Charles SMEATH RAAF (of No.4 Transport & Movement Office), was killed in a motor truck accident on 26 March, 1946. The RAAF truck in which he was riding, overturned three times on the Bassendean Road, Perth, and caught fire, incinerating LAC Smeath. Two others on the vehicle, 80734 LAC (D.M.T.) William Clarence McNamara RAAF, and civilian/passenger Keith Watkins, were thrown from the truck and injured.
The driver of the vehicle could not be determined due to the medical condition (injured, and unconscious), of the two survivors.
