    John

Struggling with your three mystery names. However, I've found the following for some of the others...

    From the top:

An article in Western Daily Press July 9th 1936, reported that ADAMS, ALLAN, HASSELL and WHITE were killed in a Valentia of 216 Sqn, which crashed at Mersa Metruh on a night-flying exercise in co-opeation with the Army. The pilot, F/O Norman de Warren Boult, and LAC Thomas Sellars, were injured.

Also killed in the accident were three Army personnel, and four were injured.

The Portsmouth Evening News of April 17th 1933 reported that ALLEWAY and JAMESON were killed in an accident at Ghobetel Boos landing round, near Suez, involving an A.W. Atlas of 208 Sqn. Alleway was killed in the crash, and Jameson, the pilot, died of his injuries.

The Yorkshire Post of July 26th 1927 reported that BACON died as the result of an accident involving a DH9 of 47 Sqn, which crashed at El Tabbin, Helwan, on the Nile. The pilot, F/O F S Homersham, D.C.M., M.M., escaped uninjured.

The Western Morning News of April 25th 1930 reported that BARRON and DAVIS (sic) were killed in an accident involving a Fairey IIIf of 47 Sqn. The Portsmouth Evening News of April 23rd reported that the aircraft crashed at Heliopolis at 6.55 a.m., local time.

The Birmingham Daily Post of July 15th 1939 reported that BARTHOLOMEW was killed in an accident involving an aircraft of 80 Sqn.

The Sunderland Echo of April 21st 1932 reported that CLARK was killed when an Atlas he was piloting crashed at Heliopolis.

The Yorkshire Post of August 26th 1929 reported that LANGAN, MELVILLE (pilot) and WILSON, John were killed when a Valentia crashed just after leaving Heliopolis. Three were injured, inclduing CREED, who suffered a fractured skull and presumably died of his injuries.

I can carry on looking for the others if it's helpful Paul.

    Regards

    Simon

    Paul,

I am not sure that I fully understand your thread on these deaths. The old Air Historical Branch - not sure what it is called now - had a very large tome (A3 size) which gave a chronological record of all between the wars overseas deaths, their causes, burial details, etc.. I am sure that it will still exist. I never saw the original but a senior officer friend had photocopied the entire record during his tour in the MoD and in my medal research often helped me.

    Paul,

Further to my posting above - have done a "test run" with my old friend! The info provided by Simon on ADAMS is correct - can only add serial number of aircraft, K3166.

BLAIN - died of appendicitis. N of K - father, F.W. Blain, Brook Cottage, Donnington, Newbury.

The handwritten register contains all overseas deaths from late 1922 to start of WW2.

Thanks for posting, this message (until you had I was unaware that the RAF AHB maintained such a list) and how did you get access to it?

The reason for posting is many years ago I got a list on all non-world war graves RAF in care of CWGC - This list has probably around a 1000 names on it (and it was not 100% complete and detailed and dates are sometime wrongs) and some of the info is unclear - As far a I know the only remaining mysteries are the above 3 - which I posted here to see if they could be solved- But of course not all entries are accurate - but they have enough info to enable the person to be identified and additional names added. Thanks to RAF Commands the other "problem list" RAMLEH has been sorted - Though I now realise it is not a complete listing of all names

For instance for above CAIRO NEW BRITISH PROTESTANT CEMETERY

WILSON, Sergeant, Royal Air Force. 10th November 1922. Plot G Grave 182.

There are two Wilsons on Overseas Armed Forces Deaths (on Find My Past) for Egypt 1922 (and 4 if you +/- 1 year) without payment on this web site these are

Wilson Claude 1902 1920 British Nationals Armed Forces Deaths 1796-2005 Egypt
    Transcription
    Image
Wilson Dennis 1923 1923 British Nationals Armed Forces Deaths 1796-2005 Egypt

Wilson John C 1887 1922 British Nationals Armed Forces Deaths 1796-2005 Egypt
    Transcription
    Image
Wilson William 1899 1922 British Nationals Armed Forces Deaths 1796-2005 Eg

If you add Cairo to search options you get

Wilson Dennis 1923 1923 British Nationals Armed Forces Deaths 1796-2005 Egypt
    Transcription
    Image
Wilson William 1899 1922 British Nationals Armed Forces Deaths 1796-2005 Eg

I suspect our Sgt Wilson is actually Sgt William Wilson who was born around 1899 +/- 1 year - but would like confirmation if possible - Assuming he RAF

    However, Wilson an usual name

Issue also with Griffins and THOMASSON but there names more unique but dates may be wrong for instance

THOMASSON THOMAS 1912 1932 British nationals armed forces deaths 1796-2005 Egypt

    Griffins may be

GRIFFIN FREDERICK 1888 1920 British nationals armed forces deaths 1796-2005 Egypt

But again can't confirm if RAF

    Paul,

I have had my friend searching the register I spoke of in my earlier postings for GRIFFIN, THOMASSON and WILSON. He has searched well outside the dates given and has drawn a blank. No airman by the name of THOMASSON died in the RAF between the wars. Without the hint of a number or initials nothing could be found on other two that would like them to the information you have.

As I said earlier, I never saw this AHB register but have had copies of the odd page from my friend who photocopied the entire document.

Many thanks for clarification and please pass on my thanks to your friend for checking his source

Looks like these 3 mysteries may remain until maybe more Cemetery information is added in full to either findmygrave or billiongraves web sites

    Kind Regards

Just of of interest, where did you first come across three mystery names Griffin, Thomasson and Wilson in relation to the cemetery?

I was a word document I got from the old raf deaths yahoo group

It was a list that they got from the CWGC themselves

It lists RAF Graves that are in care of CWGC but not war deaths

The details on the list not clear sometimes just dates and surnames
